Another train commute ZBrush sketch I've been working on. Primary shapes are there. Now for the details. If I get into it I may Dynamesh him out further to add a chest or more.

Another train journey sculpt. Messing with anatomy ideas on a Kaiju type beastie bust. Started with a sphere and Dynameshed from there.

Wood Troll sketch
Another train journey Zbrush sketch. I'm calling it a Wood Troll. Nice playing with branches and wood shapes in Dynamesh to create his features. I'll have to add some foliage at some point.

Dragon sketch
Another train journey, another ZBrush sketch. A dragon head. Once again, this began as a poly sphere and was then Dynameshed from there. No ref, just bits of dinosaur and other beasties in the memory banks.

Batman Zbrush sketch
I'm currently commuting from home to London on Mondays and the reverse on Fridays. Luckily I have a laptop and Wacom to keep me busy.
Here's one of the quick Zbrush sculpts I've been working on. A more classic take on Batman, avoiding the armoured versions that seem de rigueur these days. Sculpted from a polysphere, using Dynamesh, with no reference. More to follow.............

Pastures new
It's been a little while since I last posted as I've been a little busy.
After nearly 7 years I've decided to leave Codemasters.
I'm heading to London to work at Sony as a Character Supervisor.
Really looking forward to it, especially as I'll be working on Project Morpheus.
So all change :)...........

Old 3D Character art Archive
I had a bunch of old character art gathering dust on my hard drive so I thought I'd archive it on Behance so it could still be seen online. So here it is. A load of old work for your viewing pleasure from Warhammer Online and various games and personal projects: https://www.behance.net/theredbranch
And here are a couple of images from the two archives:

Dracula
Here is the final textured game res Dracula bust. Hi res sculpt in Zbrush (see earlier post) re-top in Zbrush and Max. Rendered using VRay in Max.
The goal with this personal project was to make a stylised, non-photo realistic character. There are no photo sourced textures on this chap. It's all scratch painted.
I wanted the texture to look realistic, but also have a painted quality that would make people wonder if the render was a 2D painting.
I gathered ref for Victorian clothing to see how a gent would style himself and tried to get the variation of materials on his clothing, incorporating silks, felt etc plus embroidered patterns (in the styles that were fashionable then).
The bust is just over 15k tris all in.

Dracula bust
Here is the finished Dracula sculpt. As I mentioned in my previous post; I wanted to do a bust of Dracula as the classic Bram Stoker,Victorian gent. It's been good fun playing with chiseled shapes to make a more stylised character.

Dracula bust wip
This is a personal project I've been working on during the last few weeks. I wanted to do a bust of Dracula as the classic Bram Stoker,Victorian gent. A strange, captivating visitor from the East. I'm going for a very chiseled, stylised look. I loved the art style in Dishonoured so I guess that's my inspiration to do something similar. Still secondary and tertiary passes and sculpts to do on the clothing, but I'll update soon when the sculpt is complete.
